Meet Our Expert Team

Evan Cooper
After completing his secondary schooling in Melbourne at the Ivanhoe Grammar School, Evan relocated to the Gold Coast to commence his tertiary studies at Bond University. After completing his degree he commenced his articles with Allan Dick Solicitors in 2001. In 2010 he entered partnership in the firm DC Law.

In 2013 a fresh approach to the business of law in Queensland was born when he and Matt Maloy created Cooper Maloy Legal.

Evan is the Solicitor | Director responsible for our Criminal and Litigation departments. He appears regularly in all courts across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Out of the office Evan enjoys Australian Rules Football, Golf & Travelling. He is also actively involved in various charities and organises an annual charity golf day to assist local charities, which has raised in excess of $50,000.00 in the last three years, and is a regular presenter for the Queensland Traffic Offenders Program. www.qtop.com.au and was a regular commentator on Southern Cross Austereo’s “Talking Back the Night” radio show which was heard nationally.

Mollie Roper
Mollie completed her secondary schooling in Victoria achieving Academic Honours. Shortly thereafter she relocated to the Gold Coast after being offered the Dean’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence at Bond University. Mollie completed her Bachelor of Laws in an accelerated degree and went on to complete her Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with Bond University.

Mollie commenced her career in a boutique criminal law firm. She has practiced exclusively in Criminal Law, Traffic Law and Domestic Violence since her admission as a solicitor. She appears on a regular basis before the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts across Queensland and Local Courts in New South Wales. She has a wealth of experience in dealing with simple traffic matters to more serious and complex criminal matters such as white collar crime, contempt, drug trafficking and manslaughter.

Known as a formidable and compassionate advocate, Mollie ensures that she achieves the best possible outcomes for her clients.

Melissa Lanthois

Melissa attended schooling in South Australia and began her law degree at Flinders University in Adelaide.  After moving to country New South Wales to be closer to family, she completed her duel degree in Law and Psychology at the University of New England.  Melissa completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the Queensland University of Technology shortly thereafter.  After completion of her GDLP, Melissa remained in New South Wales lecturing and tutoring in Property Law and Law in Context at the University of New England.  Upon moving to the Gold Coast, Melissa volunteered and worked with the Women’s Legal Service for several years, focusing on domestic violence and family law.  After her admission she worked in boutique family law and domestic violence firms, before coming to Cooper Maloy Legal.

Melissa is a passionate and dedicated advocate who is committed to achieving solid outcomes for her clients, that provide long term solutions.  Her focus is on negotiating outcomes that work for families.

When she is not at work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and playing board games.

Callan Brown
Callan completed his undergraduate degree in Law at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. After completing his Practical Legal Training at Cooper Maloy Legal he remained on as a solicitor with the firm after his admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland. Callan’s experience is varied over the areas of general practices offered by the firm including; Criminal Defence, Family Law, Domestic Violence and Children’s Court.

Carley Anderson
Carley is Cooper Maloy Legal’s Practice Manager.  Having worked with Evan as his personal assistant for more than a decade she is a much valued and integral member of the firm.

Paul Eyschen
Paul is our litigation support at Cooper Maloy Legal Southport. He is currently studying law and hopes for a career in Criminal law and Family law.
